The story

Lumatech wrote the IonFire suite, the firing-system software that runs the show on the night. PyroPortal is the other half of the job: fireworks display company management software for everything around the show, from the first enquiry through the crew, the magazine register and the paperwork to the post-show feedback, from the people who already wrote the software that fires it.

It has been built with extensive testing and feedback from people in the industry: operators who fire displays, run magazines, sign off risk assessments and chase crew on the morning of a wedding. The result is software that uses the language operators already use, surfaces the data they actually need, and works on the phone they have in their pocket on site.

What we believe

• The records should keep themselves. The magazine register, the read register, the checklist. If keeping them is extra work on top of the job, the system is broken. The responsibility stays yours; the paperwork should not.
• Operators’ time is the most valuable thing in the business. Software that wastes it is worse than no software.
• UK fireworks are a UK industry. US-centric SaaS doesn’t know what an HSE inspector wants, or how a BPA membership works, or what NEQ means.
• Your data is your data. Export it whenever you want. Take it with you if you ever leave.
